Distressed Scor-Pal Marker Grid & the World's Cutest Boy Bunny!

This distressed Scor-Pal marker background technique is my take on Rita's great scoring with markers technique on the Scor-Pal website. (Directions for my version are bellow, but I'll post a photo tutorial for you visual stamp-artistes in the next coupla posts.)

And I was thrilled to win this Boy Bunny stamp from talented (and generous) Jen in one of her great challenges. Thank you Jen!!! Lucky me, hey?

This was just what my flower-ridden stamp collection needed: cuteness with a hit of boyishness. I looked for him to link him up in Jen's store: Little C's Stamps & Things, but I couldn't find him. There's a ton of cuteness in that store though!

This bunny boy was so cute that I had to muddy him up a bit(using a chocolate Chip Stamp'n'write marker and then going over it with an aqua painter.) Here's how i made him:

1)
Stamped him in Black Stazon on watercolour paper

2) Used a markers to colour him in the faux watercolour technique (Maria has the best video tutorial here.) I used these Stamp'n'write markers: Green Galore, Tempting Turquoise, Ballet Blue, Chocolate Chip & Pretty in Pink.

3) Went over the marker with an aqua painter (you can use a wet paint brush too)

4) You can't tell in this pic, but i gave him a shiny lil' nose (made with a dot of Crystal Effects)

5) Made the grass behind him is made by cutting a little hill shape then fringing it with little cuts.

6) Made the dirt by wetting Close to Cocoa cardstock, crumpling it, adding Versamark & ironing it.

The sentiment is made by stamping the Zeal definition from Define your Life. (It's coloured with markers, embossed on gesso cardstock, & punched with a key tag punch.) I also edged it with "mud" (Chocolate Chip marker & clear embossing powder) to tie it in with the grubby bunny. :O)

The main Certain Celery card
is stamped with the Weathered background in Close to Cocoa.

Distressed Scor-Pal marker background:

I wanted the card to look kind of like a baseball diamond (only blue, LOL) So I made a Scor-Pal grid & played around with it...

Step 1. Cut a piece of paper & emboss a Scor-Pal grid on it. (This one is 4x4 inches) Embossing first with the Scor-Pal tool and then marking means you have a grove to follow.

Step 2. Pierce where the lines meet.

Step 3. Fill in the lines with marker (I like a 15 degree angle for easy markering) Use the marker to distress around the edge of the cardstock too.

Step 4. Use an aqua painter or a wet paint brush to go over all of the marker lines. It should bleed nicely. (I used SU markers others may bleed differently, of course)

Step 5. Colour areas if you like (I wanted it to look like there were 3 bases & a home plate.)

Step 6. Embellish with brads if desired (or other schtuff) :O) I drew on white brads with marker to make teensy baseballs.

Hope your day is craftiliciously wonderful, :O)

P.S. hope my weirdo posting times lately isn't throwing you for too much of a loop; my schedule is majorinsomniabackwards lately. OXO mel

Very cute! That bunny boy looks like he is lost in all those diamonds and balls laying around saying "Now where should I run to? Since I don't know, I will just stand here cute" LOL!

I guess I can't make this card.
"Step 1. Cut a piece of paper & emboss a Scor-Pal grid on it"

No other grid would work, so I give up. LOL again!

I forgot to mention how creative you are. You created those baseballs with brads, tore some paper to put dirt under his feet and yikes I forgot what else.

I have to go back and look, which means I have to rewrite my comment or copy and come back to paste :-)

I replied to your email yesterday. Hopefully it will get there in 10 days. Your email system is competing with the snail mail. Hehehehe!

Hope you have a great weekend, my friend!
