Happy World Cardmaking Day!!! Blog Candy! (& Embossed Silhouette Stamping)

Woooooohoooooo!?! A day just for us! How nifty is that? This is the first time I've ever celebrated World Cardmaking Day & I feel insanely happy to be celebrating it with YOU! I'm thankful that I have SO much to celebrate, because now I'm a full-time designer for Paper Garden Projects (GLEE!!!) (I'm way too blessed for one person. It's very humbling.)

Before today's technique...first things first, I gotta mark the day by giving away a lil' bit of pretty:

Blog candy from:

I flip my lid for this Victorian Flowers Single stamp (that I used on that card up there & bought from Paper Garden Projects), so I wanted to share the joy and give away one of these flower stamps and Cathy has also kindly added a $10.00 gift certificate that you can spend with an order over $35.00. Kewl huh? You can check out a gorgeous card that Cathy made with this stamp here.

Blog candy from:
Little Paper Shop

And since I'm living my capital D! Dream, I'd also wanted to celebrate by givin' away this brandnewly* released set which is so aptly titled {A Dream}... It is a dreamy sentiment set from Little Paper Shop. (Julia has generously donated it to give to ya!) You can browse the LPS gallery for {A Dream} here.

So, I'll random-draw for 3 winners at the end of World Cardmaking week:

2 loverly people who live in North America (one to win a Victorian Flowers Single & one to win {A Dream})
&
1 loverly person who lives anywhere else in the World to win the card above & a little sumthin' sumthin'

To enter just kindly leave your name & email/blog here & please tell me a little about how you got started making cards (& please spread the word.) :O)

Thanks for being YOU, You fabulous people You!
You make the Dream dreamy! XXOO

*Brandnewly: it's a word really it is! ;O)

P.S. You can probably tell that I've switched back to full(ish)-time posting (I'm sure I'll hafta skip a random day here or there still) but all my "blahblahblah" about blog scheduling was for naught: I can't resist spending time with you!

P.P.S. Click the pic if you want to go to the tutorials for these cards:

oh - these cards are all so beautiful!!!!

I think I started making cards when I was 12 or 13 - I found this turquoise embossing powder at a craft store where my mom took me to buy needlepoint stuff (which I loved!) and I went home and embossed for hours over our gas burners and I was in love!!

I'm an international reader and I recently got started with cardmaking earlier this year when I stumbled upon some crafty blogs and got inspired with their lovely cards. Whoohoo, Mel!! Wow a blog candy! Yay! Thank you for sharing this with us! First of all, as always love your card. You've been busy. . .lots of cool stuff to see on your site!

As for my start. . .a little over 4 years ago, I had walked into a gift shop that was selling handmade cards and I asked the owner how they were made and she told me they were "rubber stamped". I thought. . how cool!

I mentioned to my husband that I would love to start a new hobby. . .maybe rubber stamping. At that time, I was doing sketches and painting and a bit of sewing among other hobbies (I've had MANY)! He gets "scared" when he hears that I want to start a hobby because I get excited, buy a lot of stuff, then become disinterested.

On Mother's Day 2004, my husband surprised me with a few sets of rubber stamp that he bought at the gift shop! Since then, he has been my #1 supporter (in spirit and FINANCIALLY! LOL!)

That's my story! Sorry so long.

Hope you have a fabulous day!!

I started making cards a few years ago because I went to a craft show in Gainesville, FL and saw some made with stencils and pastels, they were great, a LOT of work. The following year I bought a little kit to make 4 cards and my DH and I made them for Christmas, and I had so much fun that he bought me stuff to do it again, and away I went. I love making them, but am no where near as elaborate as most of the ones I see on line...all my Christmas cards are made as well as all the special occasion cards at work lol

I forgot to add this to my previous post, and I don't know how to do a correction. I don't remember how I began stamping, but I had been making cards in watercolor at a time that I worked the Crafts dept. at Wal-Mart. I believe I found the rubberstamps during stocking and loved the idea of making the cards easier by not having to draw everything. Then, the boom hit and magazines came out about how to do stamping and I was hooked. I guess I am a pioneer, even tho my friends call me a dinosaur. lol Thanks for the correction. Linda Crowder I won't put my email address on this one since my other post is actually my entry one. Sorry.

My name is Peggy. I have been making cards for so many years that I don't remember how it really started. I think I was about 6. I remember going into the back supply room of my father's office. There were stacks and stacks of padded paper in various pastel shades. I fell in love. I asked for a few pads and took them home.

I only had crayons, scissors, and glue in my tiny art arsenal, but I started drawing and cutting out hearts and flowers and gluing them to the paper.

My mom said I would sit for hours making my cards, then go leave them on all the neighbor's doorsteps.

Happy WCMD! I started (technically) when my DH deployed to Bosnia in 2000 and I bought a Hallmark computer program. I became a demonstrator for a stamping company nine months later and haven't used a store bought card since!

I remember how nervous I was the first time I used snail adhesive and glue dots and dimensionals... one of the gals called the 'zot dots' 'snot dots' and I laughed so hard... she really tried to put us newbies at ease and her sense of humor was wonderful...

In 1977 I made my first card; was invited to shower for adopted baby girl,I forgot my little gift card to go along with my gift. Being the small town's US Postmaster and having only black, blue & red ink pads, and a few business stamps, I made a gift card by stamping off the "red" ink until it was pink in color with my "Special Delivery" rubber stamp several times. It was the hit of the shower! Thereafter, I was asked to make a pink or blue Special Delivery giftcard many, many times as needed for baby gifts! Nelda in TN

Hello,

My name is Nancy Grant and I've been a want-a-be stamper for a few years. It wasn't until my daughter was born that I had some time to develop my stamping skills. Now that she a happy toddler I can't get to my stamping table unless it's the wee hours of the night.

Stamping has been good to me and I thank God for giving me a community to be a part of.

:-)

My name is Catherine, and I started making cards about 4 years ago but have been scrapbooking for about 7. I would have to say that I started to make cards, because the one's out in the stores just didn't have what I wanted to say. Plus, they cost an arm and a leg...I thought that I could probably make my cards for less. So I started to make cards for family/friends, and then I thought about making cards for those I thought needed a card. Thank you so much for this chance to win some great blog candy :D!

Hugs,
catherine

Hello I am Rhonda and I went to a Stampin up' workshop with my mom about 11years ago. I got hooked right away. I am going through withdraw at the moment since I just moved to Japan and my stuff is still not all unpacked. I am working diligently to get my room set up so I can work again.
