4.5 x 6" Box for A2 cards (world's ugliest post, LOL)

This poor little undecorated box is a handy one nonetheless. :O) (Even though he can't spell and he doesn't even know that he's 4.5 inches, ROFL.) I'll be making a bunch to give cards as Christmas gifts in.

Edited to add:
Here's a decorated version

(click pic for the tutorial)

It measures 4.5 x 6 inches (1 inch deep) when finished. There's plenty of room for A2 cards ( 4 2/8" x 5 1/2" cards) and envelopes or a gift; it holds at least 6 cards nicely (that's with lots of layers & embellishments.) It uses one sheet of 12 x 12 paper which makes it sturdy. The opening is at the top (or side, depending on your card design & box embellishing.) A Scor-Pal makes it a quickie to make (of course, you can use any way you have of scoring.)

Sorry for the grubby template & photos. I was going to clean them up in Photoshop, but I hafta use that time to get stamping my Christmas stuff. Are you all crazy busy this time of year? Where does the time go? :O)

Step 1) Start with a piece of cardstock that measures 12 inches by 10 inches

Step 2)
Place it so that the full 12 inch side fills the top of your Scor-Pal & score at these marks: 1 inch, 5.5 inch, 6.5 inch, 11 inches. (Indicated by black lines)

Step 3) Turn it and score at score at these marks:
1 inch, 2 inch, 8 inch, 9 inch. (Indicated by orange lines)

Step 4) Cut away the areas indicated by the messy blue marker.

(If you want you, can also omit those little squares left in each corner for easier cutting and a more stream-lined box; they're flaps and are are not integral to the design. They just keep little wee things from falling out the sides of the box if you use it for gifts.)

Step 5) Cut slits along the score-line (indicated by the red lines)

(Of course, if you decide to get rid of the little square flaps, you'll skip this step altogether.)

Step 6) Crease the folds & add adhesive to the areas shown above (or where you prefer) and assemble the box...

To make a liner for the box:

1) Cut a piece of paper to measure 4.5" x 2"
2) Score it down the middle at the 1" mark
3) Adhere the liner inside the lid of the box

Now, that you've seen this poor lil' ugly 4.5 x 6 box, if you'd like to refresh your creativity by looking at something that's actually beautiful, check out what I wanna make next: this stunning box designed by my super talented SBS2 sistah Maria: it's the nicest box (with lid that comes off!)

Hope today is the start of a great month for you!

P.S. Tomorrow this box's cute cousin will be hangin' out here.

Thanks. This box will come in very handy this year. I want to give some handmade cards to some people on my Christmas list. Now I can put them in a pretty matching box.
