More Butterflies (Stampin Up Glitter)

When I first got these glitter colours, I wasn't sure about them, but now I like 'em :0). Black & white with colour is all the rage right now in challenges, and I can see why. The white & black lets you really appreciate bold colours.

We made these with my stamp club--Lots of Fun! Isn't there something about sets of things? I think it's why I can't get enough of 3x3 note-card sets. I wanted full sized cards for the galz though, so these are A2 size (4 2/8 x 5 4/8.)

Stamps Used: Define Your Life & two retired sets (Merci sab '08 & Stem Silhouettes)

Colours from left to right: certain celery, soft sky, purely pomegranate, tempting turquoise, lovely lilac.

One of the things I like about SU inks is that they're monochromatic friendly. I love that you can use 'em to get different shades. In my test cards, the silver twig stamping was overpowered by the actual matching coloured markers that went with the cardstock, but then for most of the colours there was a lighter shade. Sounds elementary to most of you I'm sure, but small things like that make me really happy. :0) (Sure sign of an obsessed stamper, lol)
Colours used to coordinate:

Secret code for figurin' this craziness out
(if you're so inclined):
[A)Glitter & cardstock B)Ink for sentiment C) Ink to paint butterfly, D) Marker for berries]
  • A) Certain Celery B) Green Galore C) Green Galore D) Certain Celery
  • A) Soft Sky B) Cool Caribbean C) Cool Caribbean D) Breeze by Close to My Heart (matches Cool Caribbean-- actually it's just a shade more yellow-green)
  • A) Purely Pomegranate B) Pink Passion C) Pink Passion D) Pixie Pink
  • A) Tempting Turquoise B) Tempting Turquoise C)Tempting Turquoise D)Breeze by CTMH
  • A) Lovely lilac B) Lovely Lilac C)Lovely Lilac D) Almost amethyst

To make the butterfly & image:

  • Paint butterfly with wet into wet technique ( I just added a weak wash of reinker & water over the whole butterfly & then painted a thin line of pure reinker along the outside edge of the wing. It bleeds inwards and gives you colour gradiation)
  • Add crystal effects to butterfly body & glitter it
  • Stamp twigs in silver Encore ink
  • Emboss twigs with clear e.p
  • Colour around berries with markers
  • Stamp butterfly antenna (above twigs) by colouring it with a black Stamp'n'write marker
  • Use black marker to edge coloured square of c.s

To make the oval tab:
  • Stamp word of choice
  • Punch with small oval
  • Punch wee horizontal slot out of black c.s. & punch large oval over it
  • Adhere small onto large
  • Add aprx 1” of adhesive on end of white ribbon slide through slot
  • Adhere ribbon to itself & Stick oval tag onto coloured square
To Assemble the Card:
  • Mount image on black & Add image
  • Add brad
  • Stick whole thing onto main card
  • Distress main card edges with black marker & scissors/distressing tool
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you have a great day! :0)
