Do you have Doodle This & forget about the flourish? I do & I love flourishes, so I thought I'd make a tab to match it & hopefully revamp it. So I got doodling...
These tabs & tags work with different Stampin' Up! punches. Template PDF is on scs here. I love the silly & free lines of doodles, so these are my attempt--not as doodley as I'd like, but they were fun for this card & maybe they'll be useful to you. I really need a good doodling pen. I used a Stamp'n'write marker but it felt stiff to work with. Anyone have a favourite doodling pen to recommend?
To make the tab for this card I did this schtuff:
(click the pic to see some ideas for how to use these with punches)- Printed the template out on gesso paper
- Embossed it with clear embossing powder
- Used the two tabs in the bottom left corner that fit the round tab punch
- Coloured the doodle scallops with a Pretty in Pink marker & embossed that with clear e.p.
- Layered them with a 3/4 inch circle of cardstock with "happy birthday" on it (Amazing to Zany)
To make the flower:
- Scan & print a text onto cardstock
- Emboss two flowers on it (This flower is from Wonderful You embossed in black craft ink with clear e.p.)
- Colour flowers in with a pink marker (wiping off excess as you go)
- Layer two & glue black beads on with crystal effects
To make the gray mat (& other mats):
- The gray mat with the stem is also the Doodle This flourish. It's embossed with white craft ink & white embossing powder, & coloured in with a black marker
- The thin pink mat has black stitches doodled on with black marker
- All of the layers are rounded on the right-hand corners with SU's retired corner rounder
To make the white paper with embossed flourishes:
- Stamp Doodle This flourish in Basic Gray classic ink onto gesso cardstock (gesso thinly brushed on--Gesso index here)
- Emboss the gray ink with clear e.p.
- Wipe a little Pretty in Pink ink over it (to distress)
- Colour areas of the flourish in with Pretty in Pink marker & emboss it with clear e.p.
Thanks for stopping by, :0)
P.S. The pink on this card is a tribute to the new in colour Pink Pirouette--can ya wait? I can't! I predict that I'll have to marry Baja Breeze--it was love at first sight. I stocked up on 7 pkgs of Soft Sky 'cause they're sure to be a match made in heaven. (i need more, LOL.)
Kate/Kaylber made this colour swatch & has more in her awesome hot 2009 colour prediction post here.
Thanks for the templates, Mel. I don't have any of the punches, but I do have scissors...
ReplyDeleteMel - those tabs are awesome! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the color swatches. I've not seen them clearly yet - they are yummy!

Joani

ReplyDeleteTFS the templates etc. you are too kind:)
The only punch I have out of all these is the word window punch, but I saved off the templates. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card by the way.

Aha! So that's why I don't have any talent - you took it ALL :)
ReplyDeleteThis template is awesome and I saved it even if I don't have any of the punches you've mentioned [I'm still young, will get them someday]. Scissors I do have plenty :)
Your card is...can't find the proper words, sorry. "Out of this world" is the closest I can think of - at least that's how I think of it.
Thank you for sharing the fantastic template.
Cool templates. I tried gesso on a transparency. Not sure it is perfected yet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for templates. Gorgeous cards as per usual.
ReplyDeleteOMG how darling are those tabs?? I do have a great brand to recommend. A friend at work does freelance work for some high end places and uses the Sakura line and one other brand that I will have to check on again tomorrow because I've forgotten the name. She does work for designers, stores and private parties. Her stuff is incredible!
ReplyDeleteMel! You are crazy talented! I'm awed everytime I visit you! Love the doodle tags . . . I don't have the punch, but I could cut them! The pink / grey card is beyond fabulous! WOW! Mel, you are a crafting ROCK STAR! Seriously!
ReplyDeleteCute doodles! I don't have a punch either, but am willing to rough it with scissors for these! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMel - what a fantastic template! I just adore doodles, and these are great. I've got a few of these punches, but not all (yet)
ReplyDeleteTFS!

Your card really jumped out at me on facebook! I love it!.... your very clever!
ReplyDeleteOoh Mel - You are so feeding my doodle mania! I bought this set of stamps "for" the flourish (the rest of it is cute too - lol). The set "Like it a Latte" had something similar but I didn't know about SU then so I missed that set.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to print out my own set of Mel Doodles. Who knows it may inspire me to try a few of my own!
Thanks so much for sharing all your talents. - Jean
