Day 3 of Caardvarks & Coredinations Blog Hop: a round retro purse box

This purse box post is for the last day of the
Caardvarks-Core'dinations hop.
I just can't thank You All enough for hanging with us 'Varks.
It's been a blast!

The tag was made by embossing on the smooth side of black whitewash Core'dinations & stitching then colouring it all with Copic markers. The tutorial for the bling button is here.

1...Caardvarks & Core'dinations blog hop info
2...how to make scratched resist patterned Core'dinations paper
3...round retro box details
4...digital stuff (dress makers judys image & patterned paper)
5...the link to the template (and pictorial) for this purse box

...make scratched patterned Core'dinations cardstock

Because of the slightly nonporous finish of the Whitewash Coredinations, you can get interesting resist effects with embossing & sanding (or a little stranger but fun for me, at least: scratching)

The background paper for this purse was made by...

1) Printing & embossing some digital patterned paper I made from a doodle (onto Whitewash Core'dinations.)
2) Scratching fine lines on areas of the image (where you see the colour)
3) Adding different colours with marker & wiping away the extra marker (it will stay just where the scratches are)

To make a rainbow coloured black
magic Core'dinations:

Of course, this could also make any spectrum of colour you like. It's as simple as ABC:

A) emboss Black Magic Core'dinations
B) sand the embossed areas
C) colour in the sanded spots

I like that you can be as messy as you want with the colouring since the black hides it. So it's a really speedy technique.

...make the digital label shaped frame:

1) Print the digital frame (this is from Marks Paper Company)
2) Emboss it with clear embossing powder & cut it out
3) Pierce & stitch it with white embossing thread
4) Colour the thread with Copic markers in rainbow hues

...make the thin Core'dinations frame
for the body of the purse...

1) Trace round box template onto Black Magic Core'dinations

2)
Flip it over to the light side & draw a frame. (You could reduce & print the pattern & trace it if you'd like it really even. Freehand is retro though, right? ;o)

3) Cut the frame out & check to see that it fits over the image

4) Emboss it in an embossing folder (this is Textile Textures from Provocraft

5) Sand the embossed area & colour the sanded parts with markers (I did a rainbow, but the sky's the limit!)

...make the handles

Step 1) To make the handles: cut some rings & glue them to each other so both sides are Black Magic Core'dinations. Pierce them if you'd like to stitch.

Step 2) Emboss the handles, sand them, & then colour with markers.
Step 3) Stitch around them to embellish, if you like.

Please feel free to use these, if you like them:
