I've been turning my living-slash-dining room into a stamp room. (Well, there's nowhere else, so why not?) I do think about stamping 24-7 anyhow; I even dream about it, lol. :0)
My storage solutions are no where near some of the pristine things I've seen in some stampers spaces, but...here are a couple of affordable storage ideas I thought I'd share with you:
Do you put your ribbon in a drawer and forget
about it? I tend to, so I thought I'd use this wire judy to display snippets of it. Now I'll be able to see some of my favourite ribbon at a glance. :0)
I love SU's ribbon keeper but the ends flopping around were making the obsessive compulsive side of me frusterpated. If that bugs you too, you can just stick a piece of double-sided tape along the outside front bottom & the ends will behave.
I must be really forgetful, because try as I might I can't remember the order of SU ink colours. I can't tell you how many times this trick has been convenient. I just cut colour strips out of an old mini. Matching ink families are below, & I reference the strips.
A CD tower makes a handy little stack of drawers for embellishments. I liked that this one had little label hardware, so I know what's where. I use containers inside to divide things.
I also forget what accessories I have, but this cork board serves as more than a reminder of supplies. You can move stuff around on it to see new combinations in one glance. I have such little space that I need to make use of the horizontal areas too. (to make it, I just bought a big corkboard at an office supply store and painted the back. I made button push-pins, so it'd be perty) :0)
What are your favourite storage tricks?
P.S. Susan asked what I have my inks in (and I have no way to email her. So I thought I'd answer her here. It's actually just the boxes they came in butted up against each other (I bought some sets piecemeal so they are stuck in between the boxes.) Wish I had all of the boxes or a fancy smancy inkholder, but this does the trick for now. :0)
Thats wicked! lol
ReplyDeleteHi Mel! so funny...that is what I do with my accessories too!! If they are not in plain sight...I forget to use it!! :)
ReplyDelete*sigh* I just love things arranged in colours like that. Appeals to my neat side....and the corkboard is a great idea , just like a little cute shop!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea with the color strips. Always wondered how people know what they used. TFS.
ReplyDeleteSame here. Dining room taken over.
I have no storage solution :) I just stash things in bins. I hope that when I get my craft room done in the basement I'll be able to try some of these ideas. TFS!!!
ReplyDeleteoooooooooh, great ideas, I am in a little stamping space also, so I could use some of these ideas.AND as luck would have it my sister got me a a wire judy so I sure could use that for my ribbons.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mel
I am loving your storage ideas and tidy tipe (so glad I am not alone in liking things all in a pretty row *U*)
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas. I have also been working on things like this. I put some of my ribbon in a mason jar. I have pictures of it on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI also stamp in my dining room. Thanks for sharing some of your storage ideas. I'm wondering what you have your ink pads in. It looks like something you may have made yourself.
ReplyDeleteYour room looks awesome.....like a place I'd like to visit!! LOL! I like organization too....too bad it's so hard for me to get it finished!!!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your storage solutions! I think we all have these issues about not using what we don't see! TFS!!

TFS, very inspiring!

Ha, not pristine? This looks fabulous!! Love your tips, TFS!
ReplyDeleteI should be organizing my dungeon, instead of snooping the internet. Great idea's! I have my ribbons in little glass jars with metal lids you get at Ikea. All seperate colours in each one. I need to definitely reorg. in there. Not as fun as looky lewying at your blog though.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome organization! Love that cork board! I have my embellies in a drawer and can't tell you how many times I've forgotten what I have!
ReplyDeleteI saw somewhere (can't take credit for the idea) that you can use one of those tool organizers (mine's from Lowes) to organize (by color) your sponges, daubers, etc. I bought one and have labeled the top four drawers with the four color groups (two colors to a row). Makes finding the correct color of sponge soooo much easier!
Wow, love your organization, Mel! It's so nice and neat! I can't give you advise on organization because I am a very disorganized crafter! My organization is stuff things where it fits! LOL!
ReplyDeleteMaria
I'm dRooLing... I want to own it ALL too! ;) I love that metal-form!!! it's adorable!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these pics. I love seeing how other people store their stampin stuff. Everything is so neat and tidy. As Martha Stewart Says "A place for everything and everything in its place!"
ReplyDeleteI know this is an old post but thought I must reply - love your storage ideas. I have recently got a pegboard with lots of accessories (pics on my blog) and I've got some kitchen towel holders that I am using for my ribbons. Embellishments in little jars with lids attached to the pegboard, small boxes with stickles etc. in, and a tool rack for scissors etc. Love your board with accessories.
