Solid Image glue pen embossing (for Beate's challenge)

I knew when I saw Beate's Inspiration challenge picture that I wanted to recreate the flowers on that gorgeous pillow (of course, if I was selling this card or sumthin' I'd worry about copyright, but I'm not so I didn't) ;0)

If you've been here before, you know I love embossing with a glue pen. To do that, I usually start out with a pencil sketch. I've never tried solid images with glue pen embossing (just line images), but it worked just fine.

You can use an image you find in a book or magazine, online (or a kid's drawing) OR you can doodle away until you're happy with your sketch. It doesn't have to be perfect; you'll notice that the lines are kinda sloppy in the picture above. The next step takes care of that:

You can just use tracing paper to trace a pencil sketch of your doodle (I use vellum cardstock, which may surprise those of you who know how cheap I am! ;0) but I love the durability of it and how easy it is to work with.

You can scan your drawing and then print it out on a piece of cardstock. You could totally stop here and just use what you've got printed or...

Simply trace it with a Sakura Quickie glue pen. (I get mine here on ebay--I'm not affiliated with that store; I just get 'em cheap there) :0)

Work in stages for big images, sprinkling on embossing powder

I found with this particular embossing powder that the image was a little cottage-cheesy; it had a couple of cracks in it. If this happens to you, you can fill in with a bit of craft ink.

You can also shade free-hand with a pencil or marker to give depth.

You can use the Creative Memories ruler thingy to trace a line with white pen that you can faux stitch

I used the Spiral (notebook) punch and added little gems in the holes (glued 'em with Crystal effects)

Other Card Details:

Cardstock:
Basic Grey, Basic Black, Naturals white (for main card)

Accessories:
Creative memories cutting kit (to cut black cardstock in a wave); white Sakura glaze pen, Making memories paper piercer & homemade fun foam paper piercing mat

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you have a great day! :0)
