I have a yuckypucky flu-y bug, so this post will be short & hopefully sweet. It's about how to make a fast chocolate flourish cake that has no calories! heehee. I used the cake on the cover of this birthday book & used the soon to be released set {Make a Wish} from Little Paper Shop to add the sentiment: "Make a Wish." ;o) (The sets are coming on the 14th!)
In {Make a Wish}, there are some perfect birthday sentiments & in a supah cute font. Some of my faves are: "May you have a day that's perfect in every way" & "Aged to Perfection" & "Hugs, kisses and birthday wishes." I love how they fit in all kinds of punches & nestabilities.
Okay, you make-a the cake, me go ta sleep ;O)
1) stamp the flourishes for icing on cake
( This chocolate/paper confection uses the {Flourished Dove} stamp set from yesterday) If you line up your acrylic block with the edge of your paper, they'll line up perfectly parallel. This is heat-embossed with Chocolate Chip craft ink & clear embossing powder.
2) draw two lines
(one on each side to make the edges of the cake)
3) Trace something rounded
(to make the top of the cake. This is a creative memories oval cutter.)
4) Cut the cake
Heehee. :O) I love the edge this flourish makes. Who needs fancy punches? Well me, but... lol)
5) colour flourishes for icing
(I used brown CTMH markers, blended with colour on a waterbrush)
6) add glue pen details & glitter
(I love my Sakura Quickie glue pen & this is Martha Stewart Brownstone glitter...sparrrrkly)
7) pen emboss the pattern for gloss:
Doodle on lines around the pattern on the DP with a clear Sakura glaze pen. This is a weird but fun way to add a little bit of gloss. I guess it's kind of pen embossing. I like that you can control it so well (unlike regular embossing) & it's subtle but it adds depth to the pattern.
and then you have a cake! Yum cake...:O)
Click the pic if you'd like to see the details;
I'll add more info about the candle etc soon.

Other card ingredients: Baja Breeze & chocolate chip cardstock; Patterned Paper: Unique Boutique-Vintage Paisley (UNI-236) by Dream Street Papers and Cosmo Cricket: Fleuriste-Cobblestone. Embellishments: Platinum Hodge Podge hardware (SU), embroidery with light blue & brown thread, more {Flourished Dove} flourish embossed on DP & glittered with Sakura stardust pen.
Hope you're feeling great!

You make me sick (in the best way). You have more creative ideas in your toe than I do in my whole body. This looks edible! Super job!

Take care of yourself and get plenty of rest:)
This has GOT to be one of the most inspiring blogs around!! You are so creative and clever, girlfriend! Love that cake - but I would not be able to make it unless you were giving a class in person.
Anyway, love it!
hugs,
Elaine :)
Yum! Your cake is so yummy! I just LOVE how you did the icing...super talented GF!!
Oh, yummers! That cake looks delish!
See, your brain was sending you a subliminal message to eat chocolate to heal your body. Chocolate cake actually works better than chocolate candy IF you frost it with chocolate AND eat at least four slices. Medical proof exists, I swear!
LOVIN' that sparkly MS brown glitter ... I'm afraid to buy it though ... I'll prolly try to eat it.
Feel better!
Hope you are feeling better! That cake looks yummy! I think if I got that in the mail I would probably lick it just to be sure the icing wasn't real!! he he
