This idea was born over a few weeks (I'm usually too lazy to think that hard, so this feels special. LOL.) I saw someone water-colour over a clear embossed phrase in a magazine (one of the many that my sweet Aunt Maggie gifted me.) I was going to do the same, but then I thought of this.
It involves embossing your line image first (in a coloured ink,) (ETA: discovered that just stamping in waterproof ink (no embossing) works better) :O) then embossing a second time with a background (with versamark.) The third step is to go over your image with an aqua painter loaded with reinkers (or ink from stamp pads.) Craft ink works amazing because it's so rich in pigment.
