I've been seeing so many great cards with chip board accents, and I've had some for a while that didn't get discontinued in the new catty (miracle!) lol. I knew just what to cover it with--paper that was a Christmas gift from my friend Kim. I just LOVE this paper. [Cabernet (PIP-921) from the Periphery line by Basic Grey.] I used up a whole sheet of it (horrors!) ;0) making this card.
I wanted to give the rest of the card some heft, so I added lots of layers & distressed. Other than the BasicGrey paper, I used Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip. Sometimes I find the chocolate chip needs to be a different tone to suit Basic Grey paper though so I altered the card stock:
I just sponged on Very Vanilla Craft ink, and Basic Brown, & Basic Black classic inks. It may look kind of rough here, but it looks much more snookum when the On Board Accent is over it:
I tried my regular kraft knife to cut out one circle--much to my frustration--then, I got wise and used the knife for the coluzzle cutter. It works amazingly! (I'm not big on the coluzzle templates, but that blade is a must have for chipboard.)
I added these flowers (punched from another Basic Grey Periphery paper--Champagne.) Used my new Martha Stewart punch (a cornflower???) Thank you Esther! Anywho, it was just the right size of flower for these cutout circles. They have a hand-cut center of d.p. on each flower and then seed beads on top--with Crystal Effects as adhesive. The flowers are adhered with a pop-up glue dot cut into 4 pieces.
Happy Crafting,
