Katie Caroler (and LPS sketch challenge)

Well, it's official: I have that danged H1N1--at least I had some fun at its expense with Mo's Swine Flu image. Take that piggy cooties! hehehe (or should I say 'snort snort'?) ynuk ynuk. (I caught it supremely early though & took an antiviral which seems to be helping a lot.)

'Tis the season to be sneezin'!

Moving onto a more pleasing season:
this card uses the new LPS Christmas set {Katie Caroler}...

2...LPS sketch challenge
3...how to make this card (spotlight technique with masking)

Sadly, while I've been sick, I missed posting for the
Little Paper Shop's newest releases,
but you can see them in all their glory on the LPS blog:

...make this card
(spotlight technique with masking)

Step 1} Print ledger paper & Stamp & emboss Katie onto it.

Want ledger paper? I bought this ledger paper digital image at Lazar studios here. You should also be able to find free ledger paper in these previous posts or in my 4shared files here.

Step 2} -Cut a nestabilities shape (label) then trace it onto your stamped image (lightly with a pencil) Cut the label shape out.

Step 3} Stamp & cut 3 Katies (1 to colour & 2 to use as masks)

Step 4} Choose your favourite Katie & colour her.

Step 5} Using the remaining 2 Katie images as masks, sponge ink onto the image to colour the sky; fill in any blank spots & create clouds with a blender pen. [I just used two masks (instead of 3) & moved them as I went along to save cutting.]

Step 6} Add white glitter to the snowy hill.

Step 7} Assemble &:

A) Adhere the label shape to red cardstock & cut it to create a thin red border
B) Stick coloured Katie to the image
C) Use a sakura souffle pen to make snowflake dots

Step 8} Line the image up on the card (I'm not sticking it on yet, since I wanna add brads to the girls' hats...

I used patterned paper for my card & I wanted the white part of Yule Log basic grey paper lined up with the hill in the image, but it wasn't a perfect match on one side, so I cheated & filled it in with the white souffle pen.

Step 9} Add more dots for snow all over the card.

Step 10} Finish it up:

A) Tie a ribbon on
B) Add brads to the girl's hats (white & red here)
C) Adhere the label to the card

Finally, add the "silent night" sentiment & the lamp post

(the saying & the lamp are also in the {Katie Caroler} stamp set--
along with the cutest little fence)

Thanks much for stopping in
Hope you're having a fantabulous day,

P.S.
Public service announcement: ;o) I'm certainly no doctor, but I thought I should share a couple of things. If you have flu symptoms, please avoid taking Asprin (aka acetylsalicylic acid--due to its potential for causing Reye's syndrome.)

If you start to get flu symptoms, (mine started with a tightness & tickle in my throat), then you might want to ask your doctor about antiviral medications & catch it early (not advising anything at all, of course, but I thought I'd share that they are out there.) If you are worried you can't afford antiviral medications, please inquire about coverage. They might be covered or free in your area. (They were free for us in BC Canada.) If you are prescribed liquid Tamiflu you might want to read this dosage warning.

Hope you & yours won't get sick at all, so you don't even have to think about this stuff!
