Glittery dp Trees Galore: Mini tutorial

I've been inspired by this gorgeous card by Lynda (lbenden on splitcoast.) It's nifty how the big snowflake gives it unusual dimension, no? Instead of Martha Stewart glitter I've used Iridescent Ice, and so I had to use a different technique. (I looked at the Martha glitters & the price is decent certainly for the amount you get--especially when you use a 40% off coupon, but I don't like being limited by colour & they had no white.)

I found the best way to get the chocolate chip ink to show through the glitter was a double-heating process. Let me explain that cryptic statement. :0) It works well this way:

1. Prepare schtuff. Have two trays on hand placed where you can get them quickly. (One should have Heat'n'Stick & one should have your glitter of choice.)

2. Stamp image on designer paper with craft ink that's dark enough to show your image (I'm going to try black next time! *GRIN*)

3. Cover wet image in Heat'n'Stick. Emboss until it is just shiny (be wary of overheating, so you keep the stickiness.) Dip QUICKLY in the glitter.

4. Tap off excess and heatgun the image a second time. The ink will show through more & it'll make the glitter hold better too.

Other card details: Paper: BasicGrey Figgy Pudding "Silent Night" (FIG-1011) and Soft sky & Chocolate Chip cardstock. Silver Encore stamp pad & Clear e.p. "Holiday Print" background stamp.Ribbon from Michael's (I actually used the ribbon backwards, 'cause it's more sparkly that way, lol.
I love that the different areas of designer paper give you a different look. This one is almost the same as that first one, but it looks stormy to me (kind of like the weather here today.)

Thanks for stopping by,
:0) Mel

Your explanation was excellent. Your card is drop dead gorgeous. I wouldn't change the ink colour to black; the brown looks perfect.
