Object of my Desire, A Card & some Tricks

As part of my New Year's resolution to try better blogging tricks, I'm starting a new series of posts called "Object of my Desire." I love it when all those super-clever bloggers have installments on a theme & neat layouts. So, here's my go at something like that:

Sakura glue pen, how I love you! At first, I'll confess, I thought you were yucky. You are blue before you dry!! But you DO dry clear and you are so good. :0) Okay, all silliness aside. If you haven't tried this glue pen then by all means do. It holds glitter like a dream (and I'm fussy about hold: I rub my finger [firmly] over the glitter as a test to see if it stays.) I wrote out "Love" (above) & it held the glitter super-well. I also used it to create circles of glitter on the Basic Grey paper & on the flower centers on the card bellow:

It even stuck to the embossed surface of the flowers! Want one? I got a good deal from this store on ebay; maybe compare their prices?

Some tricks I tried while making this card:

Give card stock deeper tones using a Stamp'n'Write marker

Adhere paper to ribbon using Crystal Effects & anchor with double-sided tape

Got mini clothes pegs? Use 'em to hold glued items to dry

If ribbon burns when you try sealing the fray with a lighter,
then just use a thin bead of Crystal Effects

Store your Crystal Effects with a big safety pin to unclog it
Use pieces of c.s. instead of dimensionals for thinner supports under mats

Use your cutting mat to line up paper mats on your cards for straightness

Card details: Colours are from s.c.s CC147 challenge. To make this I have done this schtuff....

1....stamped the Fabulous Flowers stamp in Versamark on Champagne paper (Basic Grey Periphery line)
2....embossed with clear e.p...sponged on tempting turquoise ink...stamped Sanded background stamp (tempting turquoise ink) over image
3. ...outlined with a Real red marker & added glitter on flowers (with Sakura glue pen.)
4....matted image on (marker-tinted) red c.s. & celery c.s...distressed.
5....layered white vintage taffeta ribbon & Real Red c.s. (marker-tinted) & with Certain Celery c.s. Glued it on with C.E. (see above.)
6....added strip of B.G. patterned paper (Yule Log-Dasher line.)
7....put Sakura glue pen on the dots in the B.G. paper & put turquoise glitter on...added gem brads.
8.... stuck pieces of c.s. onto the back of the matted image with double-sided tape --to lift it off the card in a balanced way (see above.)
9....wrote out sentiment ('Love') in glue pen & glittered it, heat-gunned it dry, & matted it .
10....adhered it with two pop up glue dots.

And that's all she wrote folks!

E.T.A. Ok, if you're not convinced you need a glue pen yet, check out Erika's astoundingly adorable octopus detail done with one and you will be. I wish I was loaded (or just not broke, lol) I'd like to buy the world a glue pen (after solving world hunger.)<---that really is not meant as an obnoxious joke--just feeling guilty in my commercialism...
