Don't crayons make you happy? I've always had a special affection for the metallic ones. You can't really tell in the pictures, but they look really snifty with this resist technique. Shiney Shiney! Caw! ;0)
Textures:
This is done with the Cuttlebug crayon resist technique (Tutorial here):
- White cardstock embossed with the textile folder
- Rubbed with a silver crayon & a white one
- Sponged with a black craft ink wash
The ribbon on the card spine (on the left) is a mix of neutral coloured ribbon (from SU & the dollar store.) I just sandwiched it between the card & a piece of cardstock with good double-sided tape.
The ribbon on the card front is Stampin' Up!'s gingham ribbon (black & white) but since I didn't want that much contrast, I coloured it in with a black marker. You still get the gingham look, but darker:
Punches:
The paper lace edge is made with SU's retired Square Steps corner punch. I could never get it to look right for corners, but I thought why not use it the way Julia invented with the corner rounder. You do this the same way: take the guard off and punch side by side...it's easy to line up. For a little twist on the traditional look of it, I punched it out of thin paper with this text printed onto it, then edged it with silver sharpie & added faux stitching
The black flowers are made with the Three for You punch kit and dollar store gems (Gems stuck on with Crystal Effects. Flowers stuck on card with glue dots.)
The "Wonderful You!" sentiment is also on text paper. The "wonderful" is from Boho Backrounds and the "You" is doodled in marker. Then, it's punched with the word window punch & faux stitched.
Thanks so much for checkin' this out! :0)
P.S. I can't wait to show you the rest of the messin' around
I've been doing. It involves Gesso!

I love all of your ideas. I'm looking for my crayons now. I even have the cuttlebug.
This is awesome. It really looks like you have a piece of metal on the card.
My absolute fav with this technique is the black crayon on the white. You might just see a few in the coming days.

Terrific card. Thanks for all the technique ideas. A dear friend is going to lend me her square punch to try out. Guess since it's retired, I'll have to punch out a boodle of edgings.
