(2) Witchin' Silhouettes in a Hag Bag: cards & tote

witch silhouette cards & tote & envelopes

I had a cackling good time with this witch from the new Happy Halloweenie kit at Paper Garden Projects. She's so wicked cute that she doesn't even need colour & that little cat in her lap is cute-overload. The black colouring makes this project as speedy as a witch's broomstick. (Click photos for a look so close that it's scaaaary!) ;O)

Supplies:

These Supplies all come in the Paper Garden Projects
The "Happy Halloweenie!" kit:

Stamps:
  • ‘Witch Hazel & Blackie Fly’ Stamp
  • "Happy Halloweenie!" Sentiment
Cardstock:

1 piece of Black textured cardstock for box (8.5 x 11)
Black cardstock circle mat (4 1/8 inch in diameter)
1/2 a piece of black textured cardstock for each card (5.5 by 4 2/8 inches each)

  • Top piece: 4 1/8 by 2.5 inches of Pixie Sticks (Striped & dotted) double-sided patterned paper.
  • Bottom piece Wicked Whimsy patterned paper 4 1/8 by 3.5 inches
  • Circles for witch from Pixie Sticks (large dots) or Wicked Whimsy (small dots): 3 7/8 inches in diameter

Things from your supplies/Paper Garden Projects:

Optional: For the tote handle: Black Magic Spell cardstock

Instructions:

The cards:

Step 1. Stamp ‘Witch Hazel & Blackie Fly’ on the circle & colour the image in black
  • Cut circle for witch from Pixie Sticks (large dots) or Wicked Whimsy (small dots) (3 7/8 inches in diameter.) You can cut the circle before or after stamping because the stamps are on EZ mount & they're registered. This means you can see exact placement through an acrylic block.
  • Colour the entire thing in with a black marker or black ink. Repeating layers of black will give you shadows, but this is such a perfect stamp for a silhouette that you can just colour it black and have done! :o)

Step 2. (Optional): Tint the image with a white marker or white paint. Add bling: add Sakura Star dust Gelly Roll Pen for Hazel the witch and Blackie the cat & add Crystal Ice Stickles
for the trail of her broom.

Step 3. Mount the witch circle onto the Black cardstock circle mat (4 1/8 inch in diameter)

Step 4. Most of the sweet little images on this great green paper are embossed, so it's nice to use them as embellishments.

Before mounting the patterned paper you can punch a 1 inch circle out of the top of the Wicked Whimsy (green) patterned paper (Note: Make sure the punch spot will be hidden by your large witch image circle.)

Step 5. Layer the papers (adding the top piece first & then overlapping with the bottom green patterned piece. Stitch the sides.

Step 6. Adhere the matted circle with the witch image onto the card.

Step 7. Make the sentiment:

  • Adhere the 1 inch patterned paper circle to a 1 1/4 inch black cardstock circle & stick on with Foam mounting tape
  • Cut each word into a random shape & adhere the two words to a bit of black cardstock.
  • Cut the black cardstock to make a little mat behind the words.

The Hag Bag:

(Directions adapted from Leslie Miller's famous Tote tutorial)

Step 1. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 5 3/4 by 11 inches & Score one long side at 3/4 inches. (marked in blue above on a white piece for you to see the lines) :O)

Step 2. Turn the cardstock & score across at 3/4″, 5 1/4″, 6″ and 10 1/2″ (marked in green above.)

Step 3. Cut a slit along the bottom vertical score lines (from the bottom of the long edge) up to the 3/4 inch horizontal score line. Cut away the smallest bottom section and discard it. (marked in red above.)

Step 4. Adhere the side & bottom to close the box

Step 5. Add the front decoration (which was made the same way as the cards above--just 1 inch shorter.) Stick it on with Oh so sticky tape.

Step 6. Add the handle (I've used a piece of: Black Magic Spell cardstock. I like how the green in it picks up the patterned paper, & the black ties it in.) A little piece of Oh so sticky tape works well.

Matching Envelopes:

This Witch Hazel is so sweet that you can add her without any colouring to make the world's fastest matching envelopes. Did I mention that these stamps are perfectly registered on the EZ mount, which means you can stamp your images exactly where you want them? (I'm a woman obsessed heeheehee.) [These envelopes are shimmery and I've done embossing, but you could also use waterproof ink. Here's the whole thing put together:

Hope your stamping is stampalicious!

Hello there,
This is so enabling.. links right to the store. I went on a collecting spree for copics and went to check out but shipping was $17 to Canada. Ouch... I'm considering yet. Love the witch!! If my kids were younger... this would be purchased but I'm not sure I'd make halloween cards at this point in my life. I do love them though. The puppet stage rocks and so does the hag bag. You always give me a morning chuckle!!
