Filigree & Rhinestone-brad Studded Candle

I love the new Filigree designer brads on cards, but I thought they might be kind of neat as candle jewelery. My sweet friend Kim gave me this pretty square candle. Thanks Kimmy! :O) It was so easy to work with since I could lay it on it's side. Here's how to do it...

step 1:
Lay out your brads the way you like 'em

step 2:
Heat up the brads in hot water (I used Circle Ice Rhinestone-brads)

step 3:
Press the brads into the candle through the center of the filigree flowers, et voilĂ !...

Some tips:

  • You can stop part way through the "brad-pushing" process to be sure they're going in straight.
  • Some candles may be softer and thus easier for this trick. :o)
  • The nice thing is that metal candle jewelery is fireproof & when you burn the candle you can take it out and use it for something else.
  • You could also add images under the Filigree flowers/designer brads: tissue paper with words or images stamped on it (or photos printed on tissue paper!) under the filigree (not so fireproof but a fun way to use stamps perty!)

Thanks for visitin' me! Happy Labour day! :O)

Toooooo kewl fer skewl!!! Great idea, Mel-a-Licious ... although I'd hate to use the new Filigree brads.

Here's an idea*: why not use card stock, which is cheap and plentiful, and the 'Bug flower dies ... simply put the brads through 'em. Imagine how lovely it will be when the flame hits the paper!! Your dinner guest will be be so excited and will shout with glee ... prolly something along the lines of, "whaddya crazy?!?" Sigh ... good times ....

*Don't do this; I'm jokin'!

Terrific project and a great idea ... as usual!

~Hugs!!

Mel, I love your blog! I'm a new stamper/crafter and your blog is one of my favorite "go to's" for figuring out how to do something!

Any chance you will ever do a "getting started" post for us extreme newbies? You know, recommend the must have tools/supplies we need to get started etc. Maybe share some "if I only knew this then" tips. Oh and of course link us up to some good savings!

I have very little paper, and only the basic basic of supplies, I need help! I'm talking borrowing my kids' crayons and swiping a ruler out of a backpack to just make a card! hahah!

Please help me!
Im a list person...
Give me a shopping list, a best resources for beginners list, a.. a..... tell me what I need to know to get going in the right direction! I've asked on a few other blogs, and no one ever responds...

Please?!
lol

I am so lovin' your candle and your card. They are so elegant looking. . .

Dressing up your candle is a great way to use those filigree. . .them puppies are pricey but dressing up a candle as a home decor is such a wonderful way to use them. . . .and they won't burn like paper and burn your house down in the process. LOL!

Thanks for sharing all your great ideas!!
