Embossed Silhouette Stamping (with NO silhouette stamps) :O)

This was a really quick card and this technique is great technique for beginners (or those of you with little supplies); all you need is basically three things:

1) Black Craft/Pigment ink
2) Clear embossing powder & heat gun (to heat emboss the image)
3) A black marker (to colour)

(More details on the technique & variations in my previous post here.)

I've been wanting to try this embossed silhouette technique with garden-themed stamps ever since I thunk it up to do this...

...Witch...

...but I wanted just the right stamps to try it with & now I have two very different stamps that work just right. This sweet flower (Victorian Flowers Single) is one of 'em. Leigh Hannan (the stamp designer of the flower stamped I used here) rocks my world. I love the way it still retains lots of detail even though it's coloured in black:

Materials:

Stamps:
Paper:
Manhattan:Carlyle AL8103 by Autumn leaves
Cardstocks: Cool Caribbean, Blue Bayou Black

Colour:
Image stamped in: Black Craft Ink with clear embossing powder
Coloured with: Black marker
Sentiment stamped in: Versamark & Silver embossing powder
Mat edged in: Silver Zigpainty pen

Embellishments:
Ribbon retired SU velvet; Clear gem brads (dollarstore), Self-adhesive gems.

Tools n stuff:
Nestabilities scallop circle (smallest one) in Cuttlebug
SU punches: Scallop punch, Circle punches (1 1/4" & 1 3/8 ")
Dimensionals for sentiment
Paper piercer (to pierce black scallop circle)

This sentiment is from {A Dream} the new release from Little Paper Shop. You can check out the LPS gallery for {A Dream} here.

To make this flowery thingy with it I did this schtuff:

1) Stamp {A Dream} sentiment on white cardstock in silver ink & heat emboss with silver embossing powder

2) Colour over with black marker & reheat to revive the embossing powder shine.

3) Punch with circle punch (1 1/4 inch)

4) Mount on white circle punch (1 3/8")

5) Make embossed flower (SU scallop punch) tutorial to come soon.

6) Mount on smallest circle scallop Nestabilities (black c.s.)

A trick for velvet ribbon:

Velvet ribbon can be thick; to thwart the thickness you can melt the ends a little with a lighter (instead of folding it under.) Melting ends gently keeps 'em from fraying. Then you can just stick the ribbon on top of your project (I like to use double-sided tape.) :O)

I've pierced this ribbon to add a gem brad & self-adhesive gems. I was surprised at how well they stick!

Thanks so much for checkin' this out,

Very smart idea, Mel. I always love the silhouette look on pattern paper and forget that you can do the same thing using stamps! It's a great way to jazz up plain looking pattern papers!! As always, you card looks SPECTACULAR!!
