Happy New Year! Caardvarks Just Rite projects

Happy New Year to You!

I hope that 2010 ends up being the best year you've ever had!
I'm looking forward to some exciting changes (blog-wise, health-wise, life-wise...) ;o) I've been using my down time over the holidays to start working on all those areas, but I've sure missed Ya! Can't wait to get kick off a fresh new year!

Today, a couple-few projects for the latest Caardvarks
challenge sponsored by Just Rite Stampers:

Just two for tea... And tea for two
<span class=

<span class=

The red frame is embossed, Copic coloured & stitched with green thread

The tea cup is embossed (paper pieced & coloured with Copic markers)
[I love that the detail is so crisp on Just Rite stamps,
so you can colour in the tiny border!]
The steam is coloured with Sakura Stardust glitter pen.

The patterned papers are from one sheet of double-sided
My Mind's Eye Bohemia Bliss "Friends" Brocade/Red

The button was a white pearly button; it's coloured with Copics to match

"you're well preserved" (birthday card)
<span class=

Just Rite Stampers: Preserves Borders & Centers (round 2-3/8")

The Patterned Papers are hand drawn/painted and scanned

<span class=

The jar is embossed in black ink & clear embossing powder on vellum
The wee flowers are beaded with teeny seed beads (stitched on)
The large flowers are digital from Fred She Said here (printed & embossed)

Here's a cheap trick for making a label the Rite size
(printed from your computer) to fit:

A) Print the phrase in 8 point font (Times New Roman)
B) Cut around it in a rectangle (so you can see the image around it)
C) Place it on the stamp & rub a little bit of it to get the shape
(it might need a little moving around to get the phrase straight & even)
D) Cut out inside the raised line that was created by rubbing
E) Colour & distress the label to your liking
F) Stamp the image & adhere the label

"Make it a Grande!" square gift box:
<span class=
You can find the free template for my 3.5" square box here, if you like.

Just Rite Stampers: Just a Little Caffeine Borders & Centers (2" round)
Love to cut the edge on the sweet border in this set (just freehand cutting)

The cardstock for the box is from Silver Lustre Paper Temptress (canvas & silk)

And no, you're not seeing double, this is....

...a speedy trick to paper piece with the smallest scraps imaginable:

A) Stamp a rough Just Rite image
B) Cut a wee piece of scrap patterned paper
C) Adhere the scrap over the area you want to paper piece
D) Stamp again (You can use a stamp positioner, of course)
E) Cut out the paper piece section & discard the rest
F) Stamp a fresh image & adhere the fancy bit to it

...and my take on the Sketch:
<span class=
(Stitched felt in an embossed square frame)

The black frame & the texture on the bottom (taupe pieces)
are both created with the same Just Rite frame stamp.

How-to make Just Rite square frame into speedy
distressed panels for the bottom section:

A) Stamped them in white pigment ink
B) Heat embossed in clear embossing powder
C) Punched out with a Word Window EK Success punch.
D) Scalloped the bottom of the card with a scallop edge punch
E) Stuck the punched embossed pieces on (they fit perfectly in the scallop)

The flowers
are digital from Fred She Said here (printed & embossed)

Caardvarks Just Rite Square Decorative Frame mel stampz

The frame is from the 2" Square Decorative Frames set (November's Just Rite catalogue.)
"DEAR FRIEND" is stamped using a Just Rite alphabet set (Times New Roman 12)

Hope you can play along!

(for those of you who prefer them) :o)

Thanks so much for taking time
out of your busy day!

P.S. In the next couple of days,
I'll be posting a picorial for this:

Your artwork is just stunning, Mel. I really love the floral background you drew and painted. You should be snatched up by Basic Gray or KC & Company or someone like that and hired to do that full time! I have a lot of respect for you as a fellow artist!
Hugs and Happy New Year to you!
