Edited to add: Ooops, added that liner (at the bottom with the templates.)
Migraine's are real brain suckers! LOL.
This tutorial was originally for the Cuttlebug Challenge Blog,
but I wasn't well enough to finish it at the time.
Hopefully, it'll still hold an idea or two for ya...
Of course, I'll continue to keep up with those super stars...
(and You're still sure to see many a Mo image here, since who can
resist her gorgeous art??? Not me!) :O)
You can visit Mo's fabulous gals through the sidebar links on Digital Pencil Too.
If you've never seen their work, you're sure to be delighted!

This post is also, unfortunately, a farewell post to Mo's Dream Team DT. I loved being part of one of Mo's Design Teams. (You've never met a more kindhearted bunch of ladies & I adore Mo madly!) ...but I'm consistently finding I have to be more realistic about how much work I can handle--ShEEsh! hey?

For the box:
- Match Box templates (linked below)
- Strathmore 100lb Bristol Vellum, & BasicGrey Gypsy paper
- Scoring & cutting tools, Provo Craft Cuttlebug folder Plum Blossoms,
- Copic Markers, White Acrylic Paint, Scrap of cardstock (to apply paint)
- Sandpaper, cloth to clean dust, double-sided tape
- Bella Hearts Bronte image a digi freebie for members of Mo's Digital Pencil group on PCP and SNR--it's free to join either/both & there are instructions & links for joining at the bottom of this post, if you wanna join in the fun. :o)
- Golden Matte Medium, Clear embossing powder, heat gun
- Copic Markers, Glitzy Glitter, Crystal Lacquer
The ATC match box bottom & liner:
A) Print, score, cut, & assemble the ATC match box bottom.
B) print the liner (on the back of patterned paper) cut it out & trim it
C) Dry fit the liner into it & trim it, if need be.
The ATC match box cover & the image:
Step 1) Print the matchbox outside, cut, & score it.
Step 2) Dry fit & trim the outside of the match box.
Step 3) Cuttlebug emboss the cover of the match box. This is the new Provo Craft Plum Blossoms folder.
Step 4) Roughly colour the raised embossing (This colouring went really quickly with the broad chiseled of Copic markers for fast coverage.)
No need to colour perfectly, as you can see by this sloppiness:
The painting step will clean up the look a lot & mute bold colours...
Step 5) Apply paint with a scrap of cardstock, or however you like (I applied in circles & also used my hand to smooth is into the grooves, but you can use a rag or paintbrush if you're not a messy freak like me.)
Step 6) Let the paint dry & sand the raised parts...at least, let the paint dry mostly LOL. I've never tried this with the paint dried for an extended period of time, since I'm too impatient. ;o) to sand it, I used a scrap of 150 grit sandpaper.
Step 7) Clean off the dust from sanding.
Step 8) Cut strips of 12x12 patterned paper (to match the inside liner of the box) and dry fit them--to get the spots to fold & to trim them to length
Step 9) Adhere the strips to cardstock (I used the same light turquoise coloured cardstock as the box bottom)
Step 10) Trim the strips, pierce & stitch them if you like & adhere them to the ends of the matchbox cover.
Step 11) Print, emboss, & colour Bella Hearts Bronte. For more details on how to emboss a digital image from an ink jet printer with matte medium please see this post.
Step 12) Adhere Bella to a heart (This cute ruffle-edged heart from one of Mo's other swwet Valentine images Cupid in Love; I added Glitzy Glass glitter to it.)
Step 13) Glue a bow onto bella's hair (this is tied embroidery thread) .
Step 14) Adhere Bella & Bronte to the box top.
...and there you have it...
This matchbox measures 2 and 3-4inches x 3 and 3-4 inches
(and it's 1 and 1/8 inch tall)
Took a while to get the fit of the lid for this, just right so it slides free nicely. (I've never made a matchbox before) But now I'm finally happy with how it sits, so hopefully you will be too!
