(11) Witch & skeleton card

Love this witch! She's so fun to colour. I used a paper piercer to make stars around her in the night sky. Good ol' Mr. Bones makes fun homemade patterned paper to go with her, because he fits in so well with repeat skelly stampings (look how snugly those arms 'n' legs are, hey?) :O)

Supplies:

These all come in the Paper Garden Projects "Happy Halloweenie!" kit:

Stamps:

The adorable Witch Stamp
(‘Witch Hazel & Blackie Fly’)

Cardstock:

Card Front:
Black cardstock (8 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches)
White cardstock for image (4 by 4 inches square)
White mat (4 3/8 by 4 3/8 inches square)
Green textured cardstock mat (4 1/2 by 4 6/8 inches-scalloped bottom)
Bits of Eat Drink & Be Scary patterned paper (1/2 by 1 7/8 inches & 3/4 by 1 7/8 inches)
White mat (2 2/8 by 5 1/2 inches)
Black & green scraps for sentiment

Card Inside:

Green textured cardstock 6 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches
Eat Drink & Be Scary patterned paper (1 7/8 by 5 1/2 inches)
Black textured cardstock mat ( 2 1/8 by 5 1/2 inches)

Embellishments:

Antiqued copper brads
Black button

Things from your stash/Paper Garden Projects:

Onyx Black Versafine Ink Pad
Watercolour pencils & Niji watercolour brush or Inks, markers, other colouring medium
Sakura Star dust Gelly Roll Pen
Crystal Ice Stickles
Black marker to distress edges
Paper piercer (or a fat needle)
(optional: Lumiere or Twinkling H2Os)

Punches:

Word window punch (sentiment)
SU corner rounder for scalloped edge or or threading --water border punch (to create scallop)

Instructions:

The Card Construction:

Step 1. Cut black cardstock (to measure 8 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches) and score it at 6 1/2 inches.

Step 2. Stamp the bottom (white ink with clear embossing powder.) This Mr.Bones the dancing skeleton stamp is really amazing for fitting together in fun ways, and it's easy to see where you're stamping:

Step 3. Flip that paper over, mask with a sheet of paper, & stamp that top scored piece (white ink with clear embossing powder)

Step 4. Stamp bottom of that inside piece (white ink with clear embossing powder)

Step 5. Cut back of inside of card (green textured cardstock-6 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches)

Step 6. Put adhesive on the blank section and stick that to the non-textured side of the green cardstock (this will allow 2 sets of skeletons to show on the inside of the card & the smooth side will be there for writing on)

Step 7. Cut white mat ( ) & two small pieces ( high) of the Eat Drink & Be Scary patterned paper for the front

Step 8. Cut decorative strip the Eat Drink & Be Scary patterned paper ( 1 7/8 by 5 1/2 inches) for the inside & cut a black cardstock mat ( 2 1/8 by 5 1/2 inches) Mount them on the inside.

The Image:

Step 1. Stamp the Witch & Kitty:

Stamp the Witch on the white cardstock (4 by 4 inches square) in Onyx Black Versafine Ink Pad & use a circular object to draw a circle around them in glitter pen. Paint inside the moon with Lumiere or Twinkling H2Os (or colour it.)

Step 2. Colour or
paint the witch & sky:

This witch stamp is frighteningly fun to colour-right down to the wee wart on her chin! :O) I used watercolour pencils & Niji watercolour brush.

To paint the sky, I used a marker into wet paint wash technique. Dilute a navy water-based marker with water & paint it on with a Niji watercolour brush. Then go back in with the marker. to create rings.

Step 3. Make stars & Bling: Pierce the cardstock to put stars in the sky & Add glimmer with Sakura Star dust Gelly Roll Pen around the stars (and on the witch.) Crystal Ice Stickles looks wicked on the back of her broom.

Step 4. Mat & mount the image: Edge the white cardstock mat with black marker (4 3/8 by 4 3/8 inches square) Mount the witch on the white mat. The holes will show the white through like stars.

Scallop the bottom of the Green textured cardstock mat (4 1/2 by 4 6/8 inches) and distress it with the black marker. Add it under the white mat

Add the Bits of Eat Drink & Be Scary patterned paper (1/2 by 1 7/8 inches & 3/4 by 1 7/8 inches) to the White mat (2 2/8 by 5 1/2 inches)at the left and right & Adhere it to the card front. Mount the Witch image off to the left.

The sentiment:
  • Cut the phrase "Be Scary" from the Eat Drink & Be Scary patterned paper & mount it on a bit of the green textured cardstock (punched with SU's word window punch)
  • Add a hand cut bit of black cardstock, the two antique copper brads, and another black layer.
  • Add the black button to the right of the witch image
  • Adhere the sentiment to the image & to the button using Oh So Sticky Tape.
Thanks so much for flyin' by! ;o)
