Vintage Vine papers & overlay (free digital set)

This "collection" is the first set of a whole whack of matching paper freebies
that I've made to share with You. (Been a little obsessed lately!) :-)

Vintage Vine BRIGHT solid preview

These Vintage Vines are the fanciest of the patterns, so I thought they'd be a good place to start (the rest of the papers to come are mostly geometric patterns: hearts, chevrons, quatrefoil, Moroccan tiles, diamonds, dots, stripes and so on...)

Here's a card I made with the lime paper

and a chubby little bird I doodled:

vintage vine & chubby bird card mel stampz

The distressing around the edges is done with white paint: paint on digital (vintage vine) paper-mel stampz
I just smudged the paint on using my finger to get a dry-brush effect
(without ending up with a brush to clean).

-1-

(measurements etc.)

These coloured papers are:
  • High resolution: 350 dpi (dots per inch)
  • 12.5 inches square - or 31.8 cm square
  • Matching: Other patterns will all be in the same colours,
in case you want to print them & use them together or mix & match them digitally.
-2-

You can see the wholeset here on Flickr
(except for overlays which are linked below to go straight to PNGs)
...or...
Click individual pattern images (below) to go download JPGs at Flickr.

Clicking the photos will take you to the JPGs (
in my flickr gallery)

It will look something like this:

The colour print-test strip is here,
if you want to try the colours out with your printer first:

Overlays:

My ultimate favourite part of these paper sets are the overlays
(which are patterns in PNG format so that they have transparency
that will let you change up your patterned papers or add any colour)
You can read more about overlays here, if you're curious.

(Note: please be sure to use this as a PNG so it will work)

To save one of these overlay files (directly from my blog):
In Firefox/Chrome: right click on the image & choose "save link as"
In Explorer: right click on the image & choose "save target as"

or You can find the white Vintage Vine overlay here on flickr

(Note: please be sure to use this as a PNG so it will work)

or You can find the white Vintage Vine (with black distress) here on flickr.

This is just an example of
 how the overlay works:

You can go from this...
(before Overlay):

This digital paper is from Jodie Lee's Summer Of Love Papers
From Jessica Sprague
. I just desaturated it to make it grey.

To this...
(after Overlay):

It lets you get a lot more life from your digital files
and you can create any colour or texture you can imagine.

I used it to take these solid colours...
Collage bright DISTRESSED

...and turn them all of the vine papers in this post

A Little Note: If you want to use the overlays you will need
software with layers (like Photoshop or GIMP which is free here)

...use these overlays:

Please read

(guidelines for use)

Hope you can have some fun with these,

P.S. The label shape (on the paper preview and on the card) is thanks to the lovely Karen/The Graphics Fairy. You can read more & get the link here, if you like.

Hi Mel. By you've been buzy! Love these but when I saw all the instructions, my eyes started glazing over (being technophobic!) However, I persevered and went through your very clear instructions and thrilled with myself that I have managed to print them off. They come out great on ordinary copier paper. Many, many thanks and look forward to seeing your other designs.

Thank you again so much for these! I also can't wait to read your tutorials on working with the overlays, I have ps4 but really don't know how to use it so this will be so much fun! Not sure on a way to zip them but if I figure it out I'll let you know. I can't wait for the rest of the ones you've so sweetly made!

Thank you! I previously asked you a question on another post that I believe I just found my answer. On the flicker site, it states: not for commercial use - & on your most recent post, your terms include commercial use with products we create with your pattern (& your link). I know I must sound needy...sorry...

I just want to make sure not to use your patterns for commercial use without your permission to do so. I absolutely LOVE your blog.

I actually found your blog long before I had mine and I used your templates to make cute stuff with my kids and I took full advantage of some of your tutorials...thank you for sharing your knowledge & your marvelous talent!

Hope you take a stroll over to my blog one day (-;

Hi Michelle, Thank You sooooh much for your thoughtfulness. Yup, as long as they are handmade (even a business tag printed, cut & embellished to add to product would be okay; people selling anything digital is my only reservation). I really should describe it more clearly & make a list somewhere that's more thorough. (I just don't like being bossy and have a hard time making sense). :) Sometimes between the dyslexia and the migraines my brain feels like spaghetti! heehee :) Thanks again for being so considerate & for visiting! xox mel

Thanks for the tutorial and the freebies. Unfortunately, the black and white png file is not working.
(Click the image to go download the WHITE & BLACK DISTRESS overlay PNG)

It goes to Adobe and says the account was moved. Is there another link to the distressed overlay?

Thanks,
